From Bitch Magazine: Stop the Deportation of Kiana Firouz (http://bitchmagazine.org/post/stop-the-deportation-of-kiana-firouz)

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1238/4605055103_3d30213632.jpg

Iranian lesbian activist Kiana Firouz is currently seeking asylum in the United Kingdom after a controversy over the upcoming release of Cul de Sac. The film, which stars Firouz and includes explicit lesbian sex scenes, is based heavily on Firouz's life and struggles as a lesbian in Iran. Directors Ramin Goudarzi-Nejad and Mahshad Torkan posted the trailer on YouTube in December 2009 (below, NSFW) and since then, the Iranian government has attempted to deport Firouz back to Iran to be tried and punished for her crime of homosexuality. Firouz applied for refugee status in the UK, but was rejected.

If she is not granted asylum in the UK, she will be sent back to Iran, where the minimum punishment for homosexuality is 100 lashes. The punishment for "unrepentant" homosexuality, which Firouz's LGBTQ activism clearly demonstrates, is public execution by hanging.

http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1111/4605671322_be6b41c7c9_o.png

There is a petition online right now that Firouz has endorsed called "Stop Deporting Kiana Firouz, The Iranian Lesbain (http://www.petitiononline.com/kianaf/petition.html) [sic]". Emails can be sent to the British Home Office at public.enquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk (mailto:public.enquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk), but our friends over at Coilhouse blog are still trying to confirm if that email address is working, and is trying to get in personal contact with Firouz. International human rights organization EveryOne published a campaign letter on May 6 addressed to Antonio Guterre (UN High Commissioner for Refugees) and UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown, among others; letters can be sent to

:puertorico: You Know You're Puerto Rican If :puertorico:...

You've ever used your lips to point something out.

You've ever been hit with "chancletas", "la correa", or the cord of "la plancha".

You Still, deep down inside get really nervous whenever someone mentions "El Cuuuuuco!!!"

You've gone to Titi's house and passed through the "bead
curtain" in the living room.

You step into a house that has all those little figurines taking up every inch of space on the TV and under the TV.

Your mother has a porcelain cat, dog, Buddha, pair of Pigeons, a wide variety of roosters, or elephant in her living room.

Almost everyone you know is nicknamed "mira".

You've eaten "esporsoda" with butter.

You have had a perpetually drunk neighbor.

You know your mom is sneaking up on you because you can hear the 'clack-clack' of her "chancletas".

Someone in you family is name "Maria".

You have actually met several people named "Jesus".

You treat fevers with "alcoholado".

You know "Don Francisco" from "Sabado Gigante" far better than you will ever know "Dick Clark".

You need a cup of coffee after every meal.

You have a delinquent cousin.

Your uncle owns more gold than the jewelry shop down the street.

You've sat in a two-passenger car with over seven people in it, and there's always a dumbass shouting "Subete que caben mas!"{Get in, there's room for More}.

You put a big Puerto Rican flag on your car come June.

You've sung "Japi Beldei Tu Joo" more than you care to remember.

You know at least four of your last names.

You scrunch up your nose to ask a silent "que ?".

You've ever left grass out for the camels on the night of January 5th., instead of leaving milk and cookies for Santa Claus on Christmas.

You remember Ricky Martin as the little dork from Menudo.

You were raised on Goya products (Si es Goya, tiene que ser bueno!!!).

You consider the bad luck day to be "Tuesday" (not Friday the 13th).

You ever wished El Chapulin Colorado would come and save you(No contaban con mi astucia !!).

You've ever dropped food on the floor, picked it up, and eaten it after saying "lo que no mata engorda"[what doesn't kill, Fattens].

Your sofa or rug is covered in plastic.

You start clapping when your plane hits the runway.

Your cousins have "original" names, like a blend of their
parent's names {ViMari = Victor + Maria}

Your mother, tia, or hermana's hair is black cherry, "sun in"
red, or a burgundy that would make Celia Cruz jealous.

You go to a wedding or Quinceañera party & gossip about how bad the food is {But take a big plate to go.}

You can dance to merengue, bachata, cumbia or salsa without music.

You think Cristina Saralegui can beat Oprah Winfrey any day of the week, and twice on sunday.

You can get to your house blindfolded because the smell of
chuletas or sofrito is SO strong.

Your mother yells at the top of her lungs to call you to dinner when you live in a one bedroom apartment.

Telenovenas have the status of holy ceremonies.

You think platanos are a whole separate food group.

You have a picture of "Cristo" in your house.

You think your name begins like this: "Ave Maria Purisima, [your name here]".

You walk around saying "Chacho", or "Chacha" or "Ay Bendito".

Others tell you to stop screaming when you're really talking.

You know someone who drives a "Cheby".

You call all sneakers "tenis".

Your idea of a midnight snack is warm "Arroz con Leche" {occasionally with a dash of cinnamon.}

All breakfast cereals are called "Con Fley".

All tissue papers are called "Klinex".

All brands of diapers are called "Pampel".

A proper balanced meal consists of rice, beans and some kind of meat.

You know the difference between "Carolina Rice" and everything else.

You appreciate the difference between "Agua de Florida" and "Superior 70".

You have a great uncle that had more than three wives.

You've put a penny on your forehead to stop a nosebleed.

Your mother has put a balled up piece of thread on your baby cousin's forehead to stop her hiccups.

The thought of eating fried pork intestines filled with blood
and rice reminds you of Christmas.

You have at least 30 cousins.{At least!}

You know how to drive an "estandar" or "estic chift" car.

You can tell the difference between "Yaucono", "Cafe Crema" and "Bustelo".

You remember going to those dances that you had to bring your own bottle {El party del sorullo cada cual trae lo suyo}

Your parents ever put a "Family" phone call on speaker, you're on a Date, and if You walk by w/o saying "Hi " to everyone, they ALL Snap "Que, tu no sabes saludar cabrón, ni una bendición?? Que mucho quieres a uno!!"{-grits teeth-}

Your mother thinks Vick's Vapor Rub is the miracle cure for :Howtoimg:

And last, but not least:

It's almost an Innate Instinct to go apeshit, stomp your feet and scream at the top of your Lungs when someone else shrieks:
todo Boricua Digame WEEEPAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.....

I died for beauty but was scarce
Adjusted in the tomb,
When one who died for truth was lain
In an adjoining room.

He questioned softly why I failed?
"For beauty," I replied.
"And I for truth,--the two are one;
We brethren are," he said.

And so, as kinsmen met a night,
We talked between the rooms,
Until the moss had reached our lips,
And covered up our names.

Witch-Wife

She is neither pink nor pale,
And she never will be all mine;
She learned her hands in a fairy-tale,
And her mouth on a valentine.

She has more hair than she needs;
In the sun `tis a woe to me!
And her voice is a string of coloured beads,
Or steps leading into the sea.

She loves me all that she can,
And her ways to my ways resign;
But she was not made for any man,
And she never will be all mine.

gawds....I still cant get over martin sheens.....or charlies real names..:freak:
Martin Sheen = Ramón Antonio Gerard Estévez
Charlie Sheen = Carlos Irwin Estévez
Charlie is a 2nd generation Spaniard-American...Martin's a first.
The family is Spanish-Irish american.
So yeah, whenever Charlie talks spanish with an exaggerated american accent i almost always say "oh get fucked, u know damn well how to say it"
Emilio spoke it Perfectly in "Another Stakeout" when he said to Richard Dreyfuss "Cuidado...Pendejo!!" :giggle: {an awesome Sequal movie...one of the few I'll happily sit and watch...A lot...rosie O'Donells in it, but she's fucking Annoying}
He can't say he wasn't raised speaking spanish cuz even Paula Abdul described how they all communicated and she felt like an Outsider.
At least Emilio stayed true to his name {and their other 2 sibs}...That and Emilio is actually the Elder sib*Another mind boggler, but then..Logic will explain it ....lotsa booze, risky sex, drugs, sunshine....makes ya look Older*...
They're definitely Catholic {I'm still trying to find Any information on Emilio's project called "The Way"}

Today I want to trade places with my sister that fell yesterday, breaking her leg in three places. She can't handle the crutches, is having a hard time getting around, and is so upset that it breaks my heart! I wish it were me and not her. I hate to see my sister hurting like this.

I can't go stay with her because I have no place for my dogs to be, so I sit at my house worried sick about her being at her house alone. I am working on a dog sitter, but so far, no luck. Surgery is scheduled for next week when the swelling goes down.

I wish it were me. *sigh*

"He learned that the world is like an enormous spider web and if you touch it, however lightly, at any point, the vibration ripples to the remotest perimeter and the drowsy spider feels the tingle and is drowsy no more but springs out to fling the gossamer coils about you who have touched the web and then inject the black, numbing poison under your hide."

- Robert Penn Warren, All the King's Men

http://blog.fleetowner.com/trucks_at_work/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/web1.jpg

A NOISELESS, patient spider,
I mark’d, where, on a little promontory, it stood, isolated;
Mark’d how, to explore the vacant, vast surrounding,
It launch’d forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself;
Ever unreeling them—ever tirelessly speeding them.

And you, O my Soul, where you stand,
Surrounded, surrounded, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing,—seeking the spheres, to connect them;
Till the bridge you will need, be form’d—till the ductile anchor hold;
Till the gossamer thread you fling, catch somewhere, O my Soul.

- Walt Whitman

While staring through the silent Black in my bedroom...
I pondered briefly..
Where does one turn, when Reality is painful & wretched...?
And yet, when one escapes into the world of Dreams, it's just as bad.
Bad when awake, bad when asleep
Distracted whilst walking down the Street, risking avoidable accidents.
Books can be insightful, but pointless when the Mind wanders.
Music is Moot when a Headache looms.
Silence is out of the Question.
Long baths only make one Drowsy, which...falls into the Dream shit again.
I need a thwack in my head with a chilled aluminum bat...maybe a concussion-induced blackout would work :fallenangel:
I need sleep. Bah

My ex and I had custody of her brother for almost the entirety of our relationship. He looked outwardly like he had no problems. He is deaf and developmentally disabled. When he came to live with us he was 14 my and my youngest was four. They played together. As they each got older they were insperable and played. Really. Played. That is developmentally where his head was at. He could barely read and struggled scholastically. He improved tremendously in when he went to a specialized school for the deaf.

In our home it didn't seem strange. It sure did to everyone else at Chuck E Cheese. He was laughing and happy and playing. But because at the time he was 16 - people saw him as a freak. It was with childlike innocence, a happiness to just be with his bff at Chuck E Cheese. I overheard someone say "he must be retarded." O-M-G!

Those two get each other - still do actually. Before her, there was his nephew who was only a couple years younger. He had moved on already to girls, clothes and music. He may never get there.

How people percieve someone with special needs lies in the willingness to understand. Instead of calling him a retard, if that person at Chuck E Cheese had tried to speak to him they would have immediately known he was deaf - had they spent some time with him they would have understood that he was a little boy in a big boy body. Not stupid, not slow, not retarded, not a freak - just there instead of here.

I found that people would have this look of knowing sympathy when they found out he was deaf - as if that was so sad. That didn't limit him. He could read lips and sign. It wasn't enough to assume that they knew what is going on just because they knew someone else who is deaf. He was deaf with lots of other issues that not all deaf people have that DID actually limit him in many ways.

He would cry because people didn't like him. He would destroy things out of frustration and sadness. He didn't understand the world the same way as I understood the world. He didn't have complicated enough vocabulary or sophisticated ability to communicate with the majority of the world.

Being special needs he was spared alot of the realness of world by not being out in as much as others. Both by the people who loved him and through is own blissful ignorance. As he got older and the adult interactions became more common - so did the snide remarks and misunderstandings. The world is not always a friendly place. People do not always understand even when they think they do.

He is about to graduate from high school. It's a very big deal. He took classes to become a carpenter, something that he is actually very good at. He and my daughter are video game fanatics that is all they want to do, they talk on the phone, play facebook games and spend lots of time looking up video game cheats. It's just where they're both at...I'm really glad they have each other.

the More I read, the harder it was to Quash my laughter and subdue it to small snickering...
And I realized {by the time the Author reached Gertrude Stein & Anne Heche} the content hilarious cuz it's sickeningly True....

I'm having a bit of troubles today - first it was homework, then it was the car, now it's the fact that I forgot that Katzie was already one of my friends which largely points to the fact that I'm having one of those "days."

*cough*

I came back to post a quote that I think is totally amazing.

I've saved it for years in my diary of quotes.

It's from Rachel Carson's (1956) book, The Sense of Wonder:

"If I had the influence with the Good Fairy who is supposed to preside over
the christening of all the children; I should ask that her gift to each child
be a sense of wonder so indestructible that it would last throughout life,
as an unfailing antidote against boredom and disenchantments of later
years, the sterile preoccupation with things that are artificial, the alienation
from the source of our strength."

Apparently, I did not write down the page number. I must have been having one of those days back then, too! *Imagine that*

I have you I can sing to

You are the lovers rock

You're the one

Give thanks for everything and everyone in your life!

There is never a promise for another tomorrow!

~*~ ~*~ ~*~

we as people today take a lot of things for granted,
life is one thing that we should not, but cherish it.
we act as if we have the rest of our lives liven,
but life can be taken as sure as it can be given.
we can be gone today within a blink of an eye,
that is something i know for sure and that is no lie.
tomorrow is not promised to any one of us,
so we have to live for today, and that is a must

Having sex can reduce a fever because of the sweat produced. Sex is also a pain reliever, ten times more effective than Valium: immediately before orgasm, levels of the hormone oxytocin rise by five times, determining a huge release of endorphins. These chemicals calm pain, from a minor headache to arthritis or migraines, and with no secondary effects. Migraines also disappear because the pressure in the brain's blood vessels is lowered while we have sex. So now we see that actually, a woman's headache is rather a good reason for having sex, not against it. - OMG Facts:pacman:

In view humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the “vox populi” now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin, van guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition."

While watching my Ferrets frolic {wow, i get to use frolic}, I marvelled at very subtle differences, in contrast to the painfully obvious...

Tehtoh - He has a distinctive "walk"...Sneaky, confident, arrogant, and Quick....

Matilda - Not so much, She has a more clumsy, slightly slow, wow-everything-is-so-big baby "trombone music" wobble..Until she's startled, in which case, she rivals Tehtoh considerably in how Quick she'll run and hide....

Tehtoh's only quick to hide when he's up to absolutely no good, and doing something I'm sure he knows he shouldn't

Matilda doesn't give a shit, she'll fuckin go after the chips ahoy bag, and when I pick her up she has a unique glance that can only mean "u big fuck, put me back, I SAW IT FIRST.....NOW!"

Tehtoh will casually skip away with a treat in mouth....
Matilda has a small skip then she hops off like a rabbit on fastforward...big fuzzy booty just bouncin in her wake...

the painfully obvious differences?{which somehow eludes almost everyone that encounters either one}
Tehtoh's huge....not fat...just...2 times Bigger than Mathilda...
She has a slender head, pointy snout as opposed to his "bull" type wide skull....
And if that doesnt work...
She's the equivalent of holding on to a slightly heavy, squishy cotton ball...
He's got a "barrel" torso, and his fur is slightly coarse...not to mention because he's a Boy 2 things are evident...his "orange" cheeks...and his "bellybutton" {female ferrets don't have one, so please, don't assume, and try to avoid temptation by tickling the bellybutton, you'll be in for a very rude awakening...my mothers ex found out, after he blew a few razzies on Aramis's belly}

Otherwise, they both look like they came from the same Parents....

''It is unclear, but scientists theorize that we close our eyes to protect them. We may be protecting our eyes from microorganisms and particles from our sneezes," said Dr. Bonnie Henderson, director of comprehensive ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. But it could also be simply because a sneeze is a kind of bodywide reflex in which a lot of muscles contract, not just in the nose and throat but also those in the diaphragm, the abdomen, thighs, back, even sphincters (which is why some people with stress incontinence may urinate slightly when they sneeze).

Researchers aren't sure exactly why the sneeze reflex happens, but whatever neurological message tells the eyes to close probably comes from a primitive part of the brain called the medulla oblongata in the brain stem, Henderson said. And, it's not just an irritation in the nose that can trigger a sneeze; some people, probably because of genetics, have a photic reflex, which makes them sneeze in response to sudden, bright light.

And, in case you were wondering about that old wives' tale about the heart skipping a beat when you sneeze, rest assured: It doesn't, though it may pause for a fraction of a second before resuming its normal rhythm, said Dr. Thomas Graboys, director of the Lown Cardiovascular Research Foundation in Boston. That pause is believed to occur due to a change in intra-thoracic pressure, or pressure in the chest, when you sneeze. That pressure may stimulate the vagus nerve, which in turn slows the heart rate down for a brief moment.

This is not dangerous, Graboys noted. But it's believed that people began saying ''God bless you" when a person sneezes because they believed that, in that brief moment, you were between heaven and hell, and, if you were blessed, you'd be saved from damnation.

what can I say? im bored, and got nuttin better to do...

Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.
Marry a man/woman you love to talk to. As you get older, their conversational skills will be as important as any other.
Don't believe all you hear, spend all you have or sleep all you want.
When you say, 'I love you,' mean it.
When you say, 'I'm sorry,' look the person in the eye.
Be engaged at least six months before you get married.
Believe in love at first sight.
Never laugh at anyone's dreams. People who don't have dreams don't have much.
Love deeply and passionately. You might get hurt but it's the only way to live life completely.
In disagreements, fight fairly. No name calling.
Don't judge people by their relatives.
Talk slowly but think quickly.
When someone asks you a question you don't want to answer, smile and ask, 'Why do you want to know?'
Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
Say 'bless you' when you hear someone sneeze.
When you lose, don't lose the lesson.
Remember the three R's: Respect for self; Respect for others; and Responsibility for all your actions.
Don't let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
Smile when picking up the phone. The caller will hear it in your voice.
Spend some time alone.

Well, that evening I couldn't let the cat sleep in the entryway and hauled her inside. The next day, I took her to the vet only to discover "she" was a "he" and had large abscesses from fighting.

So his growths were cut and drained, he was neutured, and has since been checked over for anything nasty like fleas or worms, and has been given all of his shots except for one more booster in 3 weeks.

I am the proud owner of a scrawny tom cat named "Leonard" for a mere $450.00.

But.....I love this cat! He's such a momma's boy. No matter where he is outside, he'll come running right home to me and when he smiles he has two huge fangs hang out. It's a riot. I call him "Fang Face" sometimes.

In the short time he's been here, he has gained 3 ounces already, which I'm sure is due to the Science Diet for kitties, Fancy Feast nightly, and a bowl of cream and Whiska snacks. He's a good kitty and this is his home.

Welcom to your new home, Leonard!!!

So, this black teenage kitty appeared a few days ago. She's scrawny and has a hunchback and never stops meowing. As cats go, she's got a face only a mother could love.

Today, she and my dog made friends..and she decided she likes me. She came in the house everytime I opened the door while I was trying to hang laundry. She seems to enjoy my ankles. She's lonely. She wants to be heard. She smacks up the dog when necessary.

She lets me pet her and isn't feral. I have no idea where she came from. Tonight, I noticed her humpback is due to a large cyst or spongy growth on her shoulder blade. It's not painful to the touch and she's full of energy so I'm not sure what to make of it.

I told her if she's still around in the morning, I'll take her to the vet. Bear in mind, I don't want a cat. They make me itch. They leave hair on my pillow. They get on the counters at night. I like feral cats..who live outside.

The cat and my dog are obsessed with each other and are communicating through the kitchen window. The cats sits on the chair on the patio on the outside of the window..and BLossom sits on the chair at the table in the kitchen. And, they communicate. A lot.

I've been sneaking around my kitchen for the last 3-4 hours. The cat has been eating at the feeders, sitting on the patio chair, and now she's in the entryway off the kitchen. Resting comfortably. She doesn't appear to have plans to go anywhere. I hesitate to have her in the house until she is checked over by a vet..but I feel awful thinking about her out there.

I have company arriving Wednesday. I need a mani/pedi. Blossom is getting a bath and a shave.

Blossom just had a $260.00 surgery bill and needs shots in June. She has an Secondary AV heart block and her vet care is expensive.

I DON"T NEED A $300.00 VET BILL FOR A SCRAWNY HUNCHBACK CAT!!!!

Yet this kitty has adopted us. Blossom has adopted her. Try as I might, I can't NOT like this cat.

Ughhh... I might have been adopted against my will. Again. Sigh, I'm taking a comforter out there for her to sleep on.

ME TOO!! I just kept saying "nu-uh!! no he didn't!" That was a mad crazy episode!! I love Miranda...she is probably my favorite on that show...except for Dr. Torres of course....she can have my baby any freaking day!! :freak:

I felt like I was sitting on the edge of the couch the whole time... rocking. Then I had to watch the end kissing scene with Arizona & Callie about 5 times ~ 'cause D had the remote and kept sayin' **RAWR**

McSteamy is pretty HOT... I'm not a big fan of McDreamy. And the guy with the pretty eyes ~ SWOON. I think I might be crushing hella hard!

Yesterday, after a rather lengthy argument with relatives, I decided to take a Long walk, clear my mind bla bla...
I wound up sitting on the front steps of a Baptist church, I had taken 3 magazines with me, just in case..
shambhala sun, people & curve..
I spotted a funny looking bug between the brick wall & the steps, kept staring for awhile, every now and then it would wiggle...Decided to read, there was an article on the Dalai Lama, after I finished it, I peeked on the bug, and it turned out to be a Moth, the wings were popping out*nice patterns too*, it would expand then press against its body...
It was rather curious...
I would occasionally shoo a spider away, mumblin "not this time, not on my watch"..
Granted, it was a Moth, but still, seeing it in that stage was rather impressive....
After a while of watching this, I had to go, sunset was approaching and the Road back to my place isn't safe for pedestrians at some points {visibility}...
quietly told the moth "good luck" and went home..

Before I got "30 days of Night" Graphic Novels, based on what I saw in the Movie? I didn't even know the Vampires had names..All I figured was

"Oh shit, that dudes spookier than the other, has a bigger fangy mouth...not to mention he's butt ugly"

"Wow, that one's more bloodthirsty" :wine:

"Awww, the blood-drenched bossy guy actually seems to give a shit about the half toasted screechy bitch from hell.....oh....wait...he just tore off her gullet...ew" :blink:

"Dude, ever hear of Manicure? Dang"

Now I'm hooked on the graphic novels, there's a background on them, who knew?...or cared...

{they seem to be making a Sequel film}

I confess I had expected the email contact.

I confess I was still thrown. :|

I confess I want more and yet I don't want more.

I confess I wish there was someone, besides my honey, to discuss it with.

I confess my honey tries to understand but has never been there. The hugs are comforting though.

I confess my online crush on one butch is officially over. :byebye:

I confess I gots others. :blink:

I confess I have the blahs.

I confess I miss the confessional.

No wonder Mare keeps me away from pet stores.
