Try adding a tablespoon of honey and a few dashes of balsamic vinegar to your sprouts just as they are almost finished cooking, make a sauce. I created a monster when I made this for my roomie...now he has them at least once per week and sometimes begs me to make them.

Thank you, Kenna. I'll have to try that. The first one I tried and I was unsure but the more I ate the better they got.

Thank you, Kenna. I'll have to try that. The first one I tried and I was unsure but the more I ate the better they got.

I've cooked them on the Weber grill in a special enamel pan directly over coals, and in the stovetop skillet with a little bacon grease to brown them (sliced in half)...
It gives them a smoky, nutty flavor and the honey hides any bitterness.

By all measures ( I assume ) my gf is very beautiful, gracious, lovely, sensuous and all those other adjectives. I'm one very lucky kinda charming little devil.

I'm not about to complain about her cooking. I'll happily eat what she makes and lick my lips. I like good food but i like cultured sophisticated beautiful women even more.

I am grilling chicken and brussel sprouts. I have never ate a brussel sprout so this should be interesting.

I can't stand those lil suckers, no matter how they are cooked. Glad you liked them because I don't have to eat my share now.

:eyebat:

DC and I went out to Chili's and it was horrible for DC. His chicken tenders were rubbery and mashed potatoes were cold. My fajitas were good.

I had cherry vanilla ice cream when We got home.

Nope. I hate them. Literally. Hate. Them.

The ONLY way I can eat them is if they are shredded so fine and thin that I can barely see them and they are mixed in with strong salad greens.

I am making spaghetti sauce, yum yum.

http://beyondmeat.com/media/uploads/product/beefy-crumble/thumbnail/420/420/beefy_crumble.jpg

I’ve made this sauce with Boca crumbles a few times since then. I brought it for lunch every single day last week.

I cooked chick peas in the crockpot yesterday, and today, I stewed them with tomatoes, coconut milk, and garam masala. It’s so delicious that I want to eat it out of the pot with a spoon.

Right now, there’s onions, which Pete grew, potatoes, storebought, though we had home grown last year, garlic, ginger, and garam masala in the crockpot.

I'm not going to have naan for dinner, but I think Pete will want some toasted.

Oh Gosh, soooooo last night I tried to make meat balls put of the vegetarian non-metal mix and it was hard to get the meat mixture to form into balls, so instead I just baked the mixture as an meat loaf. It was very yummy!

I also made from scratch, an Apple Crisp.... an variation of the recipe, which included using dried cherries and the crisp was made from butter, brown sugar and oatmeal and cinnamon and allspice.

Supper was delicious! :hk28:

Happy birthday to your Kasey.

They took us to a dirty table and cleaned it while we sat there, they got 3 of the 6 salads wrong, they got 3 of the entrees wrong including my Kasey’s steak. They took 25 minutes to replace her steak...but fortunately they took her steak off of the bill.

The place was filthy, the waitress inattentive and incompetent, and I wasn’t impressed with the quality of the beef. We were not asked if we wanted dessert, even though they knew it was a birthday party. The waitress walked over, said” here is the bill”, and came back 5 minutes later asking if we were ready to pay.

It might have been an off night, but with a bill of $150 we expect a little better experience than we received.

Thank you for the birthday wishes(f)

My youngest is out of town. Tomorrow my oldest will be headed that way to spend Thanksgiving with my ex and their stepmom's side of the family. So tonight I, my oldest, and his ex celebrated early. Since I had a major headache, my ex daughter in law to be had a terrible toothache, and my son was just stressed to the max because of all the pressures of his new job, none of us felt like cooking. So we skipped all the work and cleanup and opted for dinner out at our favorite Chinese restaurant instead. Despite all obstacles and odds against it we actually managed to enjoy ourselves and had a good time. Now I'm home having pie for dessert and Monte is having grain free turkey with giblets canned cat food for his early Thanksgiving meal. Tomorrow it's all about more of the same - left overs for dinner for both of us.

First off, let me say hope everyone has an enjoyable Thanksgiving day! :)

I will be having BBQ from the grill tonight. Actually, I will be having it every meal for the next 4 or 5 days.

They let us leave work at noon yesterday but will pay us for regular 8 hours.

I came home, fired up the grill and cooked lots of meat on the grill.

- 6 xl chicken breasts ... one for each of my dogs' dinner, one for my neighbor and one for my neighbor's Doberman pooch. Her Dobie had surgery recently, he is fine and I wanted to do something special for him. Actually, he ate a cat toy whole and it was not a small one. After removing it, her vet washed it and put it in a zip-lock bag. I saw it so I know just how big it was. I do not see how he did not choke to death. I will divide the last one 3 ways so my dogs can have a snack around noon

- 12 overly thick hamburgers (my babies had one each last night with their chicken breasts)

- 36 boneless, skinless chicken thighs with BBQ sauce, sent some to neighbor along with the chicken breast ... did not put the BBQ sauce on all of them so Kevin, Jennifer and Jeffrey can enjoy some of the thighs along with their hamburgers

- 16 huge pieces of boneless pork ribs, pure meat, no fat ... put BBQ sauce on them

I like not having to be concerned with food preparation during Thanksgiving holidays. :)

On a final note, I want to share something I am so thankful for. Being single, I do not feel obligated to be polite and watch that Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. LOL! ;)

Last night, We had dinner out. We had the same app of chicken wonton tacos. I know, it sounds a little weird, but they. were. delicious. DC had honey chipotle chicken tenders with 4 cheese macaroni. I had steak with healthy grains and steamed greens and cherry tomatoes. It was pretty good but the steak could have had more seasoning. It wasn't anything that I couldn't jazz up though.

Tonight, it will likely be leftovers but I'm okay with that.

we opted for a dinner that isn't so traditional. Surf and turf!

The most I've done so far..chopped some veggies to marinate to top the green salad.

Then I thought about dessert, not pie, but super easy pumpkin mousse.
Oh, then last min, last night, I stopped to pick up the ingredients to make a 24 hour fruit salad. That will be the lonely left over!

I have the turkey in the oven, I’m also making mashed taters, stuffing, cranberry sauce, rolls, greens, and I picked up a sweet potato pie and whipped cream. I wanted mincemeat pie but my butch spouse hates it so I didn’t bother to get it for just me. I would have ended up eating the whole thing! Her son is not doing well at all since his surgeries so this is the first Thanksgiving that he won’t come see his Mother. His wife is only having her Dad over for dinner, which is fine because after a family drama thing a few years ago we no longer want to be around her anymore. We are enjoying Thanksgiving with just the two of us and my bff will stop by later.

First what we did *not* have today;

We did not go to my parent's house and have a platter of disappointment laced with recrimination. There were no side dishes of mashed feelings, creamed egos, or baked grudges from years gone by. The meal did not end with a big slice of negativity and whipped anger. There was no Tupperware container of depression to cart home.

Instead my teen and I have been enjoying a week in the Fl Keys with sunshine, laughter and loving memories. The actual meal was black bean soup, fresh Cuban bread, grilled grouper with lump crab and lemon butter sauce, fresh grilled asparagus, "good" rice and mojito to drink. Key Lime pie for desert.

But even had we not had such a lovely meal there is still truth in "better a crust of bread in peace, than a feast in a house of strife."

Katniss~~wishing everyone a lovely season of blessings and thankfulness

Options are turkey veggie loaded chili, chicken parm, veggie cottage pie, or chicken fricassee and there are left over roasted root veggies, roasted brussels sprouts and cauliflower, and green beans sauteed in coconut oil and garlic. Guess I better pack up lunch too!

I am having a huge Idaho baked potato, stuffed with some of the meatloaf I baked and Harvarti cheese melted on top. A dash of non-dairy sour cream too. Cracked peppercorns and a titch of sea salt. Dark Cherry Berry herbal tea to drink.

I've even got a couple of cookies, to have with a half cup of Raspberry sherbet, for dessert.

Tonight was carry out night. I had a Whopper, some Doritos, an Andes mint cookie and some flavored popcorn with soda. DC had 4 (they really aren't that big) NY system dogs with 'everything' and some water.

No meat tonight. I like to alternate days between veg and meat dinners so it doesn't make my body work so hard at digesting food.

I'm making a quick and easy dinner with a combo. that I've selected that covers all food groups pasta - carbs, beans - protein, cauliflower, carrots and cucumber salad - veggies and I may add in peas as well depending on how many pots I have going and if I have enough burners.

Liver and onions, mashed potatoes, brussel sprouts and cornbread. Some people call it corn spoonbread. It's like dessert.

I made a cheese sandwich for breakfast and a turkey sandwich for dinner. I ate them both flying down the highway at 80 mph.

Not all that yummy but satisfactory.
